What do you mean I can’t get my final without Title 24?
We have helped many contractors, both local and out of state, out of a jam and we can help you too. Many contractors who haven’t done lighting in California before aren’t aware of the need for an Acceptance Test until they try to get their final signed off. By the time they know about it, it is delaying building turnover. That’s where our rush services come in. Oftentimes we are able to do it as soon as the same day.
What is Title 24 Acceptance Testing?
Title 24 Acceptance Testing is a process mandated by the California Building Standards Code, commonly known as Title 24. This process verifies that certain elements of a building’s energy system, such as lighting controls, are installed correctly and operate as designed. These tests ensure your building is compliant with California’s energy efficiency standards, aiming to reduce energy consumption and promote a more sustainable built environment.
The tests required are determined in the permitting stage and will be in the drawings. Typically this is located at the very beginning or end of the E sheets and will look like a collection of forms.
*Important New changes in the 2023 code
If your project was permitted on or after Jan 1 2023 we are required to submit some documentary proof such as an invoice that the lights you bought are the lights the drawings called for. If you had to substitute the lights it gets complicated but we can help in these cases as well.
